10cf746e54 The ChangesBefore I started to lose weight, I ate fast food two or three times per day. I felt fragile and horrible, so I just put the weight back on again.I knew that I wanted to stay alive and be here for my children and their children. That’s all I could manage. I wake up before 5 a.m. After my father’s untimely death in 2005 due to cancer, my battle with obesity went to another level as I gained over 200 pounds in a matter of months. As I tell the clients I coach, “You don’t have to like it, you just have to do it.” What’s 30 to 40 minutes out of your day to look better, feel better, move better, and not age so rapidly? If that’s not a fair trade, I don’t know what is! Sometimes I do slip back into wanting heavier foods or wanting bigger quantities.
Adding higher weights when lifting to increase muscle mass has been my primary focus in the last few months. The StrugglesThere is definitely more planning involved if we are going to eat out and when we travel, but it is worth it. Last year, I turned my story and the recipes I’ve compiled into the cookbook-memoir, Clean Comfort: Finding Peace, Balance, and My Perfect Weight.I drink almond or coconut milk now and eat goat and sheep milk cheese very sparingly. Before that March when I started losing weight, whenever I looked at myself in the mirror, I never saw an obese person. It has strengthened my body and mind. Besides, the average two-bit fan wants blood. I would be lying if I said that they never make me feel guilty, but I’m still working to overcome every aspect of my mental struggle from my eating disorder. I’ve never been a big lover of salads so I find creative ways to get the vegetables in, such as green juices made in the Vitamix, baked kale or eggplant slices (a great potato chip substitute!), or steamed cauliflower pureed into a velvety soup. I love going to Hero Training Center because through this process, I have made some of my best friendships there.
